Isovolumic Contraction

The isovolumic contraction signal measures the inotropic contractility of the heart. This signal specifically measures the ability of the heart to contract and is not confounded by other factors such as size of output valve opening or systemic blood pressure.

Early Ejection
This mechanical signal is caused by the cardioballistic recoil of the heart to the rapid ejection of high pressure blood into the aorta. This signal has been demonstrated to be closely related to cardiac output measured in Litres per minute.

Aortic Valve Closure
This pulse is generated by the rapid shutting of the Aortic Valve after the ventricles are emptied and appears to be related to the intra chamber and systemic vascular pressure.
